Euro Van to Chicago?

Ford’s fresh from introducing the updated 2009 Ford Escape and ’09 Mercury Mariner at the Washington auto show. And in two weeks, the company’s truck portfolio will increase with the addition of the Transit Connect, an award-winning cargo van sold in Europe.

Ford is expected to introduce the Transit Connect at the Chicago auto show.

Ford Transit Connect is not a car-derived van. It is built on a unique, dedicated commercial vehicle platform .
Certain drivetrain and suspension components are common with the first generation Ford Focus (C170)

The Ford Otosan Commercial Vehicle plant at Kocaeli, on the Izmit Gulf in Turkey, is the sole construction facility for Transit Connect and Tourneo Connect.
Not sure if it is offered outside of Europe market.

If they bring this van to the US they should restrict it to, or at least put a heavy marketing accent on, pure commercial use.

As good as it may be, this van would do nothing to enhance Ford's image in the American market, the was car like the Euro Focus or the Mondeo would

of course ^that^ could make it very cool for gen-whatevers to turn them into neo-vans (á là their grandparents'(?) flowerchild transports)

If ford is going to show the Transit Connect here in Chicago as a new option for its commercial fleet...does that mean there is a possibility that the Ford Transit could be coming to finally supplant the E-Series, or at least offer a model in between in size?

Frankly, the Transit would look stunning here in the US and would fit more companies needs that the E-Series is too big for and that the possibilities of the Transit Connect are too small for. Plus, the Transit is substantially more modern than the current E-Series.

But 1931Chevy, the Ford Transit is the number one seller in Europe for the exact same reasons...it is absolutely rock solid in reliability, rarely breaks down, and is the most flexible and customizable van in all of Europe. It would be just as dependable here in the US, and with its multitude of Diesel Engines...would be more economical to operate here in America without consuming the amounts of fuel that the current E-Series does.

Maybe Ford could just restyle the E-Series, finally, and bring it into the 21st Century by styling it like the Transit.

And the best part, he expects to pull another 100,000 Miles out of it before letting it go! This is so amazingly wonderful. No, there is no doubt that the Econoline is a ruggedly dependable cargo vehicle...no question...especially when this one did not even get regular maintenance and is currently sans Air-Conditioning.

Ford...you really should do something for this loyal owner...like maybe, a new E-250 for this proud owner?

This is no surprise those Econoline's are tough as nails and will run forever.

There is no other work van that can compare to an Econoline.
But tell me...could a Ford Econoline...do this?

But I think that what you want will come true because if I remember right Ford will merge the E series with the big transit for 2012 or maybe a little later , but If Ford do this they have to keep the E series name on the new van, those things dont die
