Ford Says ‘No’ To 2019 Geneva Motor Show As It Lacks Major Premieres

The Blue Oval chose not to attend the 2018 Paris Auto Show that took place earlier this month, and will reportedly miss out on the 2019 Geneva Motor Show too, reports Autocar, after speaking to a Ford spokesperson.

Ford doesn’t see the need to embark on a road trip to Switzerland, spending a few million dollars in the process, with no major premieres under its belt. That’s the bad news, the good news is that this won’t become a recurring theme, according to the British publication’s source, who said that the 2019 Geneva event just doesn’t meet their requirements at the time.

Very soon, like within 6 months, we will see new Bronco, baby Bronco, GT500, Explorer, Aviator, Escape and their new hybrid strategy across almost everything, and hopefully, more information on their strategy. No way worthy of a double face palm. These are all major products and mostly high volume.
Of those upcoming models listed, I think only the upcoming Escape (badged as a Kuga) will to make it to Europe. Paris 2019 perhaps?

The Upcoming Bronco was only referred to as global once (I think by Jim Farley), so it's a big question mark if it really will be sold globally.

Wings, something is wrong , here. If Ford will not attend the Geneva auto show in 2019 because will not have something new to show, this can be true because the Geneva auto show will be in March (5 months from today). Or , maybe, that 6 months will not be 6... maybe will be 12 or 18...

Geneva show is first week of March, which is a little over 4 months. I am really not sure about the cadence, mostly because I don't care to ask, but I do know that Detroit will have reveals. Geneva might not have new reveals for other markets, but regardless, 4 months or 6 or 8, we know the product is coming. I just don't get why it matters at which show.

Makes sense that Ford will not display new models (mainly for America and China) in a European auto show.

I wonder when Ford plans to launch the new Focus ST in Europe?

OMG.....no automaker has ever declined a show because they had nothing to add.
that is not the problem.....the problem is that they said NO because they "lacks major premieres" Another year without news from Ford??

Jose, your face palming is a bit over the top.
no, it isn't.....Ford product planning deserves it!

it's been a while since they show their latest new product and you tell me that in a 6 month time period they will show 6 new products?? really? I will have to see it happen to believe it! I mean, if it was Mercedes Benz I would believe you, but I have my doubts. So far, nothing for LA, so everything at Detroit?

No way worthy of a double face palm.
A double face palm is being too soft, I think they deserve more 0:):grin2:

Maybe 12 or 18, I don't know, Ford is soo slow lately

of course, we know products are coming, the problem is not the show, is when! I don't care where they show it, just show it! If they want to show all 6 products at NAIAS is ok for me! but for god's [email protected] do it!!

They'll probably spilt it between Detroit and New York. The thread though is the lack of new Fords for Europe.

I miss those days when concepts were unveiled in-between new model launches.

If there is a new Escape there is also a new Kuga, but I don't know, maybe they don't consider the Kuga an important product (I think it is)
I have a feeling it will be unveiled in North America first before Europe or other markets.

All the spy photos we've seen so far of the upcoming Escape were taken in the US, so I'm guessing Ford of North America is heading development.

Dude, calm down.

They can't have a reveal every other day.

Just because it's not set for debut at a show doesn't mean they won't show it. They've been doing their own events for vehicles lately, outside of showing a few vehicles at NAIAS, or the Lincolns.

This isn't like previous years where there's literally been nothing to show. We KNOW there are products to show, it's just a matter of when/where, just relax.

I think you didn't understand me, I don't have a problem with where they decide to show the products, I don't care if it is a private event or an auto show, my problem is that it seems they are going to take more time until showing the products.

sure, we know there are products to show, we have known it for a while, the problem is when!

The Ford /Lincoln products age between the refreshes or their replacement. That is the problem. I´m anexing in this post the product launch schedule of Mercedes-Benz . More than 22 completly new or refreshed vehicles in 2 years!. Compare this with Ford, and you will understand what is worring us.
