Carscoops

In order to revive its European subsidiary, Ford is trying to replicate a tactic it used during 2008-2009 in the United States. The carmaker will launch 25 new models within the next five years as it awaits the recovery of the European car market.

An Autonews report said that Ford of Europe president Stephen Odell stated that the carmaker plans to add 25 vehicles in Europe in five years, up from the 15 planned last year. Odell told media at the Frankfurt Motor Show that the 25 vehicles will be both lineup additions and new generations of models, but will not be variants. However, he did not name any of those models.

According to Barb Samardzich, Ford of Europe's head of product development, Ford wants to be in a good position when the market recovers in order to gain share in Europe. “It's the same exact strategy as in North America: to make sure that our portfolio was the best ever when the economy turned around,” said Samardzich.

That is pretty aggressive, any idea what the 25 models are?
EcoSport and new Mondeo come to mind (since that hasn't been launched yet)

Maybe they are counting variants of certain cars (i.e. Focus SVT, Focus RS) as different models and that is they are coming with the 25...unless there is some other pure electric vehicle that Ford is working on.:D

Odell said they were not including variants.

Russia is not Europe, and is not part of this announcement.
Would not surprise me if the Explorer was added to this planned 25.
But Lincoln for Europe would be a shocker, mainly for the reason that Lincoln is not talked about at all over here.
Does not appear to be any interest from the car rags, consumers etc.

Mondeo Hybrid
Mondeo Plug In ?
C-Max Hybrid
C-Max Plug in Hybrid
Grand C-Max Hybrid?

I agree with Mrs Samardisch that is a good strategy. In USA Ford gained market share quickly in the start of market recovery, but now is losing that market share because is not capable to produce all the cars the customers want!. Although i admit that the price war in the midsize sedan segment and compact corssover segment between Toyota and Honda is afecting Ford sales too. I think Ford of Europe must to think how to avoid this situation.

I think Ford Sollers is still under Ford Europe so it might...

As for the others, I am guessing hybrids and plugins would still be variants.
