SHANGHAI, China — General Motors has announced plans to introduce more fuel-efficient models into China with the aim of reducing fuel consumption by 15 percent over the next five years.

Following a similar plan launched in 2008, the 2011-'15 Green Product Strategy launched by GM's China venture will include 12 new engines, focusing on small displacements, including a 1.5-liter VVT engine and 1.4-liter turbocharged engine.

Shanghai GM said its goal is to reduce fuel consumption and carbon dioxide emissions by 15 percent, while enhancing performance by 14 percent by 2015...
