Re: GM/Other MFGs' SALES August 2015

The SRX moves 6,903 cars this month. WTF?

Literally nothing about Cadillac makes sense to me. They build world class sedans and cannot sell them, they have an ugly CUV nearing the end of its life and they sell as many as they want. Meanwhile Lincoln with the still new MKC cannot sell 3k of them no matter what they do.

Baffling, absolutely baffling.

Re: GM/Other MFGs' SALES August 2015

By FAR the most popular luxury car in my neck of the woods in the SRX, it was an instant hit with standout styling, pricing, and packaging and remains that way today despite its age. It's shocking to me that they are throwing that name out for XT5 and likely a rearrangement of their Crossover portfolio.

I'm not sure what to think about Lincoln's crossover efforts right now, clearly no instant hit is going to happen for them but they are going to need to keep iterating until something bites in, a dramatic design departure is clearly needed and on the way.

Volkswagen Reports August Sales

HERNDON, VA -- September 1, 2015: Volkswagen of America, Inc. (VWoA) today reported sales of 32,332 units delivered in August 2015. The all-new Golf family of vehicles continued to find success in the market. In August, Golf family sales totaled 7,075 units. Recently, the Golf, Golf SportWagen, and Golf GTI, when equipped with the optional Forward Collision Warning and Autonomous Emergency Braking (Front Assist) system, earned a rating of Top Safety Pick+ from the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS): the vehicles were also highlighted in a report by IIHS calling out the optional Forward Collision Warning and Autonomous Emergency Braking System.

“We are encouraged by the continued strength of the Golf family and confident that success will continue with the model year 2016 vehicles that are equipped with the MIB II infotainment systems and available class leading connectivity features,” said Mark McNabb, chief operating officer, Volkswagen of America. The Tiguan delivered 3,165 units, marking a 47.1 percent increase over the previous August. The Touareg, refreshed for 2015, delivered 690 units: 411 of these were TDI® Clean Diesel models, amounting to 59.6 percent of its sales.

The 2016 Jetta was also awarded with a Top Safety Pick + rating by IIHS when equipped with the optional Forward Collision Warning and Autonomous Emergency Braking (Front Assist) system.

The Chattanooga-built Passat totaled 7,409 units delivered for the month. Volkswagen recently introduced the value laden Limited Edition model, which has a starting MSRP of $23,995. A refreshed Passat for 2016 will be revealed later this month and is set to hit the market later in the fall.

Re: GM/Other MFGs' SALES August 2015

I look at every other brand, and can picture what the vehicle looks like by name...then I look at Infiniti's sales, and cannot for the life of me remember what any of them look like!

Their naming scheme is relatively new so its understandable. On the other hand if you take a few minutes to study it then you'll see there is at least some rhyme or reason to it unlike the alphanumeric game of spitball Lincoln plays. Q is a car, QX is a crossover or SUV. The larger the number the larger the vehicle within the scheme. Lincoln to the MK* route where * is equal 'what the **** does that mean?'

Go price the two; it'll become crystal clear for you.

Even in China, the luxury-brand paradise, Cadillac is losing ground.... This is a debacle

swiped a verbal list of USCadillac's Aug sales

...With the exception of the Escalade ESV being up a smidgen, the SRX was the only Cadillac to post any resemblance to meaningful gains for August 2015.

ATS was down 12.66 percent to 2,449 units

CTS was down 33.26 percent to 1,730 units

ELR was down 77 percent to 45 units

Escalade was down 22.27 percent to 1,770 units
and Escalade ESV was up 4.22 percent to 1,310 units

SRX was up 51.88 percent to 6,903 units

XTS was down 48.59 percent to 1,531 units

of course we've just the SRX's replacement: " X T 5 " aka X-whaTeV...
...see if they can ruin that too

If it is $10K more than the current model...expect the same results as the ATS and CTS.
