Feb. 24 (Bloomberg) -- General Motors Co. plans to wind down its Hummer unit after an agreement fell through to sell the brand to China’s Sichuan Tengzhong Heavy Industrial Machinery Co., three people with knowledge of the matter said.
The people asked not to be identified because the details haven’t been announced. Tom Wilkinson, a GM spokesman, declined to comment. Christina Stenson, a spokeswoman for Tengzhong in New York, also declined to comment.

Another one bites the dust too bad that it has to die but Let's remember that in the end a lack of flexibility to change with the evolving market (when fuel efficency had priority in the mid 2000's) and the resulting slow sales helped kill it. Also it's a win win for GM since they will no longer have a target on there heads for greenpeace and the sierra club (two organizations that despise the Hummer) and it's demise can also help GM in the ever popular quest for having a fuel efficent lineup

The Hummer brand or pinnings could be probably used through out the GM line up but just not noticed. Maybe a SUV or truck based on the ruggedness of the Hummer. Who knows.
