Ford SEMA Project-Vehicle Proposals Due In February
FordAuthority

by Aaron Birch — Dec 23, 2016

The deadline to submit Ford project-vehicle proposals for the 2017 Specialty Equipment Market Association (SEMA) Show is approaching fast, with the first deadline falling on February 17th.
That’s the date by which aftermarket companies must complete Part 1 of Ford’s SEMA build application process...

...Ford enjoys having a large presence at the show, and at SEMA 2016, the automaker had the biggest presence of anyone with more than 50 custom vehicles on display.
The SEMA Show is held every year during November at the Las Vegas Convention Center. Visit SEMA.org for more info on applying for a Ford project vehicle.

Re: got an idea for FLincmoco SEMA? ..."U544"

^ mine would be a lineup with 2-wheel-drive converted to Virtual-4-wheel-drive with electrics on the un-driven pairs

MKC = 1.0T (or 1.6T?) from the Fiesta with the C-Max/Fusion-Energis' plugin system hammered into the rear ... prolley raise it a couple inches for a skateboard battery pack underneath

MKZ = its 2.0T...no wait, 2.3T with... ...umm this is too much work

so
I'm gonna spam my latest rant here too :angel
me-elsewhere said:
I've never hated the MKT
but
I hate that Fomoco seems to like having a putrid/mold-spore model next to their fresh stuff.
imho
it'd be so easy to put an MKX-skin over a Flex'frame'...

...'nother way to put it:
if it's not good enuf to [BL]-ize, it doesn't belong in the lineup
+
thinking that the 9-speed oughta be ready before the end of cy2017
and that^ along with a torque-vectoring-3.0T would make a darn-nice, interim "X-Lg"...
...to keep large(ish)-Cuv-customers from forgetting about Lincoln

edit:
wondering it WAS made&marketed as an
"X-Lg"
if they could start at a (single?) higher trim level + [BL]?
edit²:
without a competitive 3-row Cuv, there's gonna be, Or-SHOULD-Be
a HUGE $tep up from [BL]MKX to [BL]Navi

it just galls me that all the partsbin pieces seem to be there
- Conti has SAME wheelbase as MKT = the torque-vectoring HAS to fit, no?
- 3.0T
can even wait a bit on the regular X
- 9-speed ...did GM screw it up so bad it ain't ready yet??

...lessee
MKX prices go (or Did) from ~$38-39k to ~$64k
oldNavi = ~$63½ to ~$75k without [BL]
and

MKT = $38,295 = including $925 DelChg, minus $6,000.00 cash on hood ($43.3 msrp)
topping out at $60,454 before the $6k "incentive"
so
cheapest Conti / 3.0T / Awd-std / TqVector / Reserve-Only = $59,180
my X-Lg could Start There if a bit fewer fripparies (just sub-Reserve) & go at Least to just over $80k, not counting ChromaFlare paint or a full feature-set explicitly for a 3-row that Conti don't got
then
believe the Aluminator[BL] should be able to definitely 'touch' $100k,
esp with said (or even more lavish) "full feature-set explicitly for a 3-row"

belated fiesty-Festivus & "Airing of Grievances"

Ford is definitely trying very hard to garner the attention of its audience now after that big injection of finance. And rightly so. After all that boosting, if they don't show that they are doing something about it to get their profits and figures back into the black, I think a lot of people are going to be very angry and disappointed...

^ what "big injection of finance"? @webbrowan

&
this seemed good to include:
It sounds like all the major automakers have agreed, that they need to have one platform that can offer a hybrid, plug-in hybrid and 200+ mile EV. But they are still retrofits. To really compete in the EV market, they will need a ground up EV platform.

This is why I actually hope that since Lincoln seems to be skipping the plug-in hybrid, that they get an all new, ground up designed 300+ mile EV. Actually a sedan and SUV.

actually, what do you Mean?
I've actually always wondered about the significance of actor placing in commercials like this. Considering the financial status of Ford and other manufacturers and that big loan they took, I'm torn between why they would want to spend more money on something rather intangible versus the appeal of someone famous endorsing their product. For their sake, let's hope a lot of people value McConaughey's good opinion! haha

what "BIG LOAN"?
