It's been awhile since we've see anything interesting from Ford in terms of tech and safety, a few years ago they were standouts in the industry. Ford has historically been cautious on car features for reasons only they can explain (such as remote and push-button start, Navigation, proximity entry, adaptive lighting, ABS, LED interior lighting, etc.), but they usually implement them right once they get to it or it gets cheap enough for them to put it on everything. It wasn't until Mulaly that Ford was particularly aggressive with tech and features and that seems to have largely ceased as they try to sort out their quality story and focus in major mechanical innovation like EcoBoost and aluminum.

I think we are also entering a time when Ford's in North America are deprived of competitive tech features to give them to Lincoln, while the rest of the world gets the good stuff. Fusion without a panoramic roof or HID lighting is a good example of this since most of the competition offers this, as does Mondeo.

This also extends to Edge in the US vs the rest of the world.

In the end I'm concerned that Ford has lost the technological edge that made them a standout in an industry that has essentially commoditized all mainstream cars.
