Lincoln is on it's way back, and right now it's the MKZ that's doing the heavy lifting.

Ford announced today that the sales of the MKZ are so strong that it is increasing production capacity for the 2014 Lincoln by 40 percent.

YTD sales of the 2013 MKZ is at 14,440 (up 1.4%), with 3180 sales for June. While the ES sold 33,493 YTD (up 83.4%) and 5,680 units in June.

Sales of the 2013 MKZ Hybrid are outpacing dealership supply, month after month.

Nationally the MKZ Hybrid has a short 12 days on lots. But in Los Angeles, where most MKZ Hybrids are sold, the days on lot for the MKZ Hybrid is a shorter 10 days.

Currently Lincoln has a 2013 MKZ Hybrid lease deal offering $389/mo with $3,689 Down. While the ES Hybrid has a $469/mo $3,719 Down lease.

Inventory outlook:

Based on current inventory, there are 6,628 MKZ gas versions available, and only 717 MKZ Hybrids available nationwide.

Compared with it's primary competitor, the ES with 4469 gas versions available, and 1,860 Hybrids available nationwide.

So it's pretty much guaranteed that much of the 40 percent production increase, will be building more 2014 MKZ Hybrids. And with increased production, dealers will have more of the inventory they need on the way to 5k units monthly.

I'm not sure if it's the WAY the media is reporting this or the customers themselves OR the way FLincko has setup its price structure
but
it 'feels' like the "Zybrid' is taking over - at least with the more "media-darlings" demogeographics.

Has anyone seen a Hybrid-only commercial for the Z? ...yet?
Not at all, just the generic MKZ commercials. It seems in CA, a hybrid is expected.

They have already announced the production mix for the MKZ Hybrid is increasing from 20% in 2013 to 40% for 2014.
