Lincoln May Revive Classic Nameplates, But Only For China
BY Antony Ingram ANTONY INGRAM

Jim Farley, Ford's executive vice president in charge of global marketing, says that there are no imminent plans to bring back proper names--though he notes the brand has plenty of "iconic" names in its history. If the names did return, they'd also be China-only--American Lincolns would retain the current naming norms.

agree with you, or at least they have to fix the MK- nomenclature
Having multiple names for the same vehicle only adds to the confusion.
Screw China. They get the same names as us.
The arguments that stand behind the reasoning are a) the brand has a lot of iconic names under its belt that it no longer uses and b) it is apprently believed that Chinese people actually remember the old days of Lincoln luxury, what the cars from that period were called and what they stood for.

Wonder if someone else put those words in his mouth?

Farley has said in the past names do not matter as much as the product....... Why does China get a pass?!
^ I've seen at least one other Fomoco employee say Names don't matter...

...too bad they're wrong and THE CUSTOMER IS RIGHT
This fomoco employee has said "I don't care what they call them," in the past.

And I will say it again,

I could care less if Lincoln brass believes that using some storied names from the past that the China recognizes far better than the MK names we have grown accustomed to, with the possibility that they may return here as well and be universal.

But regardless, 3 letters or a name....I just don't lose sleep over it, and I bet very few actual Lincoln customers do as well.
Come on Lincoln give us what we want!

I am yearning to see a Cosmopolitan or even a bad-azz Futura cruising the American highways and boulevards.
