Lincoln MKZ Stars in Premier Technology Show

DUBAI, UAE – Lincoln is showcasing its latest innovations at GITEX Technology Week, where the all-new Lincoln MKZ is the official Car of the Show. This is the sixth consecutive year Ford Motor Company has linked up with the Middle East, Africa and South Asia’s premier technology event, which runs through Oct. 24.

“We are re-energizing the Lincoln brand on all levels, starting with all-new distinct vehicles with eye-catching design, meaningful, intuitive technology and an unbeatable combination of sporty handling and ride comfort,” said Paul Anderson, Marketing director, Ford Middle East. “The all-new Lincoln MKZ is the first product from this new direction for Lincoln, and we are really excited about it as it features technologies that promise to elevate expectations from a midsize luxury sedan.”

Visitors to the Lincoln stand at GITEX will be able to take a virtual test drive inside a production-model MKZ. This high-tech experience will offer them a choice of scenery to virtually pass through, while at the same time experiencing the unique technology features and applications within the automobile.

“We have created a unique experience for our GITEX stand visitors to experience the best the Lincoln MKZ has to offer, through a unique virtual test drive that will please both automotive and tech enthusiasts visiting the show,” Anderson said.

Participants will choose which location – London; Dubai; the South of France; Cape Town, South Africa -- they will be driven through. Once inside, coordinated screens will give them the feeling of actually being in a moving car. The virtual chauffeur will be the guide during the experience and explain the differentiating features with visuals on the screen. Some windows feature interactive brochures that visitors can interact with using gestures. The multidirectional projection system uses 10 projectors for the window displays, military-grade lazer software for the touch and gesture controls and full two-way integration with platforms such as Twitter and Facebook.

“We were tasked with creating this chauffeured luxury experience for GITEX visitors, and spent a lot of time both inside the vehicle and in our development rooms to devise the best fit. With this five-minute experience, the customer is actually immersed in the Lincoln brand in a memorable way, while at the same time educated on the latest and best within the Lincoln MKZ,” said Samantha Billingham of Thwack, which worked with Lincoln to create the system.

The app to control the experience was also designed to capture customer data and transfer it to the dealer as well as to Lincoln if the visitor has requested a physical test drive.

“The all-new Lincoln MKZ represents the future of Lincoln in both style and substance, with eye-catching design wrapped around intuitive, purposeful technology,” Anderson said. “GITEX Technology Week is the perfect platform to showcase our leadership in automotive technologies.”

The technology that has been packed into the new Lincoln MKZ includes:

• Lincoln Drive Control, an intelligent system that delivers a refined ride and engaging driving dynamics. Standard Lincoln Drive Control intuitively integrates multiple systems (engine, transmission, body and chassis) to deliver totally new Lincoln driving quality.
• A distinct Push Button Shift gear selector that enables flowing and architectural center console design.
• A quiet, well-appointed interior enhanced by standard Active Noise Control and SYNC with MyLincoln Touch.
• Class-exclusive inflatable rear safety belts that supplement eight standard airbags.

Alongside the virtual test drive, stand visitors to GITEX can take part in the Lincoln MKZ storytelling through the Lincoln Middle East Facebook page and Twitter channels, using #MKZatGITEX, for a chance to win a range of prizes.

Ford has been selling Lincolns here in Saudi Arabia since 1987. So, people here are familiar with Lincoln. But the problem is that a lot of people consider Lincolns as rebadged Fords. I hope Ford do a massive ad campaign showing the uniqueness of Lincoln models and what separate them from their Ford counterparts. And, I can't wait of the official launch of new MKZ here in Riyadh :).
