DETROIT – Ahead of its public debut at the North American International Auto Show, Buick today revealed the Avista concept – a 2+2 coupe that pushes the brand’s contemporary design ethos and rekindles its historic performance roots.

...a contemporary grand tourer, with a 400-horsepower twin-turbocharged V-6 driving the rear wheels and a driver-focused cockpit offering a comfortable, connected center of control...
• A 110.7-inch (2,811 mm) wheelbase and 63-inch (1,601 mm) front/62.9-inch (1,598 mm) rear tracks for sporty proportions and an aggressive stance
• Twenty-inch aluminum wheels with color-toned accents match the car’s Dark Sapphire Jewel exterior
• Front fender vents with chrome accents evolve Buick’s signature fender ports.

Buick Avista concept

Avista concept shows Buick's performance potential

With names like Wildcat and Riviera in its past, Buick knows how to make a good-looking performance machine. It's just been awhile. But the Avista concept revealed Sunday night ahead of the Detroit Auto Show suggests Buick's sporting heritage might be more than relegated to grainy photos.

The Avista is a 2+2 sports coupe running a twin-turbocharged V6 cranking out 400 horsepower through the rear wheels. Look familiar? It should, as it reprises many of the design cues from Buick's last show-stealer, the Avenir, which debuted a year ago in Detroit.

re: [NAIAS] Buick: Avista & Envision

They won't build it, but it is none the less beautiful!

And like we do with all debuts, let us list all the vehicles it cribs from:

Mustang in profile.
Genesis Coupe from the front 3/4.
And the cherry on top, like everybody at GM pointed out with the Mustang, the greenhouse comes direct from the Accord Coupe!!

I love that Avista! Really digging the Opel design influence on the new Buick's. Great work. Maybe Cadillac separating a bit from Detroit will be a good thing for Buick! Unfortunately we're still waiting on the Avenir to be produced and the Envision concept was watered down by the time it reached production. Must be Alpha-based which does heighten the likelihood of this being built.

Great looking automobile, good job Buick. Perhaps a 2017 Riviera, no?

I would love to see that name return.

Now you know what Lincstang would look like.
That was my first thought when I saw it. It is the Lincoln coupe Lincoln does not have-an American Benz.

Combine that bit of "stick it to Dearborn" mentality with the mostly production-ready styling and plausible chassis and driveline, and I suspect we are looking at the next great Buick coupe.

You know, could this be preview of an Opel Cascada (and Buick Cascada, or Riviera if they want to give it that name) replacement?

I'm wondering if ATS is a goner (in present form/platform) and they HAVE TO add a model, almost any model
Well, that's actually not far from the rumors that have been out there.

From what I've read, GM will replace both ATS and CTS with one "CT4", while a new, smaller-than ATS vehicle (presumably CT2) will slot below that.

I thought LincStang for a split second too, but I think the LincStang should be a step above; torque vectoring AWD with 400 hp as the --base-- engine! Dream big, right?

CT4 replaces CTS and ATS? Sounds like the return of the gen-1/gen-2 CTS. Bring it on.

JDN said that the ATS and CTS would be replaced by new vehicles that don't quite directly replace those or something along those lines. Basically the ATS and CTS are done.
