New 2015 Ford Falcon Ute XR6 Unveiled
Autoevolution

At the end of July, the right guy with the right camera at the right moment in the right place caught on film an undisguised example of the 2015 Ford Falcon Ute in a parking lot. After the little accidental teaser, Ford Australia finally took the wraps off the heavily-anticipated last iteration of the Falcon Ute and boy does it look mega in XR6 clothes.

The Ute is the third new Aussie nameplate to bear the Blue Oval badge after the updated Falcon and Territory. With great regret in our hearts, we have to mention that this will be the last Falcon Ute locally produced 'cos Ford decided to close all Australian production facilities by the end of 2016, eliminating 1,200 jobs as well. Why the dramatic turn of events? Well, the Blue Oval's bigwigs tell that high manufacturing costs and marketing fragmentation are to blame for this, translating to vehicles imported from the States or even the People's Republic of China.

But enough with the lukewarmness, the updated Falcon Ute is today's star. Aesthetically similar to its sedan sibling, the 2015 Ford Falcon Ute will be coming to the Land Down Under with steel wheels measuring 16 inches and bumpers finished in the same color as the bodywork. But the XR6 is the real showstopper in our book, with its 18-inch rims and wicked LED daytime running lights. Amenities also include Ford's SYNC2 media system, digital radio DAB+, Wi-Fi connectivity and a dual antenna system.

I find this type of "ute" thing to be quite unattractive. As a matter of fact, all of Ford Australia's cars seem quite lackluster, especially the Territory.
