Ram mulling full-size SUV

Fiat Chrysler Automobile's Ram truck brand is seriously considering the introduction of a new SUV model that would compete against the likes of the Chevrolet Suburban and Ford Expedition, the automaker's chief executive revealed on Wednesday.

FCA CEO Sergio Marchionne dropped the news during a conference call discussing the company's third-quarter results. Machionne indicated Ram was planning an SUV spin-off based on the company's next-generation pickup truck model.

Grand Wagoneer platform pals? Stretched Durango perhaps? Or Ram 1500 half ton platform? I think it's an okay idea. Ram seems to have a better reputation than Dodge for some reason, so a full-size suv (truck) would probably be better perceived from the truck brand. Still don't see why, though. The Jeep is what will sell, unless they make that one small enough to compete with the Durango and Explorer, in which case there is a market for this.

Why Dodge never wanted a piece of the Expi/Tahoe pie is beyond me.
