Audi is going to be PO'ed (although Ford has been using the look more faithfully for a while).

I like that the headlights aren't too big; they were getting silly on cars, but this shows some restraint.
I do as well Paul8488, I can't help but wonder if the headlight cluster will include the DRLs. Will Ford use nice looking LEDs, light pipes or just the simple low beam light for the role of daytime running lights? I would love to see Ford use the lights from the new Mondeo for the Fusion and also for this new Taurus giving each a family resemblance.

looks good but what I am afraid is that a lot of people are going to say that this interior is more luxurious because of the rotatory shifter ala Jaguar! than the Lincoln interior

As long as they get rid of the Taurus SUV stance all is good.
The face gives me a vibe of the new Escorts look.

...I want ... platform confirmation!
- could this version be China-only?
- does the different shifter support the idea of the Taurus & MKS not being built together at same plant?
or on the same platform??

This looks like it was designed by the same people that did the Escort, which is what I feared. I'm not optimistic about the rest of it and I'm assuming this is not coming to the US as long rumored now. There were even rumors that Ford scrapped plans to build the car in the US because focus groups hated the design. Ha, didn't believe them until I saw this.

Different shifters actually mean nothing.
The Fusion and MKZ are built in the same plant, same goes for the Escape and MKC.

If their big Lincoln will stick to FWD, it will most likely be Taurus-based.
Ford only makes one platform per segment/size class not unless it has a different engine/drivetrain layout.

Out of curiosity, how are other non-premiuum large cars doing compared to the current Taurus? Like the Impala, Avalon, 300C etc?

It looks like the New Taurus design will be more 'evolutionary'. The hood line, headlights and grill seem to be pretty much the same. I expect the profile to be updated with a lowering of the rear deck to aid rearward visibility.

A bad pic using a distorted lens of a grill on a car that you can't really see.
Actually I think the lens is not distorted, and the front looks pretty clear to me, they just blurred-out the surroundings so people can't tell where it was taken.
