Toyota recalling 1.3 million cars for airbag problems - NY Daily News
In the U.S., 752,000 Corolla and Corolla Matrix models were being recalled because of a defect that causes airbags to deploy inadvertently. It is the third Toyota recall since October to involve more than a million cars.

TOKYO, - Toyota Motor Corp will recall nearly 1.3 million cars globally for two separate defects, including 752,000 Corolla and Corolla Matrix vehicles in the United States to fix airbags that could be deployed inadvertently, the automaker said.

For the third time in four years, Toyota Motor Corp. recalled more vehicles than any other automaker operating in the U.S. market during 2012.

Toyota’s various safety-related service actions involved a total of 5.3 million cars, trucks and crossovers last year, nearly half of those in a single recall involving potential vehicle fires. That problem pushed the Japanese giant past Honda, which led the recall list in 2011 and came in second in 2012 with 3.9 million vehicles involved in such safety campaigns...
