With Ford and Lincoln being so suv/cuv and truck heavy I think the time is right for the return of the Lincoln Blackwood. Not as based off the F150, but more like a Ridgeline and using the Aviator platform.

Could be interesting. The only concern is that truck buyers tend to like the "everyman" image the "regular" brands portray even if they're the top trims.

I'd predict low sales, so it'd depend on how much it costs to develop.

Blackwood, Wow! I can't see it, however, unless it is based on the F-150. Unfortunately, re-engineering Aviator makes no sense to me especially with the Ranger on the way.

I think the Aviator platform would be better suited to a luxury truck vs the Ranger's body on frame solid rear axle. Could share drivetrains and likely a lot of module so as to cut down on cost.

I get it. Makes me wonder how Ford could justify a luxury Lincoln truck without a corresponding Ford model since that's not what they do. The Navigator is already based on F-150 and its luxury is unquestioned. I don't think Ford wants to introduce a tweener especially since Ranger/Bronco has yet to appear.

With Lincoln seemingly dependent on the China market, I also wonder how a Blackwood would fare over there. I do like the idea of an Aviator/Blackwood play. It might work in the U.S. but is Ford really willing to give Lincoln a longer leash?

RAM is probably the closest you'll get to a Lincoln Truck today. The F-150 is a nice all-around truck, but I don't think it scales as well because it's largely engineered for class-leading payloads and towing. I doubt Lincoln could get what it needs out of an F-150, especially with that suspension system which is a non-trivial thing to civilize unless Ford wants to.

And besides, I doubt Lincoln wants such an obvious rebadge in their ranks again.

It has yet to be seen if Ram has surpassed a premium Ford. They have been so far behind for so long, that anything looks appealing.

Speaking of trucks, so this ad pop up and I think it's brilliant. For a fraction of the cost of Ram's fixed fender storage too.

Wescoent over at GMI back in the day (if anyone remembers him he hasn't posting in a really long time) used to think Lincoln should utilize the Super Duty chassis for a full on, no hold back luxury vehicle I can't remember if he wanted an SUV off of it or a truck but he used to always say that was Ford's best and Lincoln should use it.



Personally I don't want to see them try another pickup at all I think both the Blackwood and the Mark LT tarnished the brands image in the 2000s, although there were other things that did this like rebadging the trucks did not help at all.


I know trucks and SUVs are really popular now and maybe down the line it could swing in Lincoln's favor I just don't see it happening and don't want it to happen.

Bottom line is, they will follow the money. If MB brings the X-Class to the US...and Caddy brings back some form of a truck, Lincoln will follow. It would be nice for Lincoln to lead in some way.

I agree I don't believe a Lincoln pickup truck is in the works, but I personally wish a luxury mid-size truck was.

Oh that is sweet! You should submit that to Lincoln as a fan suggestion. I really like this. Not sure if the Zephyr name fits with Lincoln's travel theme naming system but the name does have history to this car.
