One could only hope. I seem to be in the minority on this site but I really hope Lincoln doesn't ditch the MKZ and Continental but I hope they build on them and start to offer electric power trains. MB, BMW, Audi, Jaguar, and the likes are all going to be electrifying their mid to full size sedans and not giving up on them. Continental IMO should be right up there with them.

NO

First, is too early for a completly new MKZ. If Lincoln is going to make a new MKZ, it will be made based on the new Mondeo, and this is not yet in such advanced state of development.

2nd, that enormous grille is from a Genesis. The roof arch sugest this is a big korean sedan, too.

3rd, this car is a RWD car... will Lincoln made a new MKZ using the CD6? Will be the next Mondeo a RWD car?

The G80 isn't that old is it?

Well, it predates the Genesis brand (remember, the current G80 debuted as the Hyundai Genesis before they made Genesis a standalone brand).

With Ford publicly stating that the European Mondeo will get revised interior/exterior and new powertrains/hybrid...it will help spread costs around if they use it on a refreshed MKZ in the USA and China. Hope is still alive for the Lincoln sedans.

Except they're going to change the factory producing MKZs to something else. Continental has a better chance of living on since it's produced at Flat Rock alongside Mustang.

Jalopnik is also basing some of their info on forum scuttlebutt at the factory, if that's their insider info it can be unreliable.

This is the way I generally look at it.

Continental is due for a 2020 or 2021 MCE...if it doesn't get it or we don't see it running around, then that's your first clue. A new CD6 Continental wouldn't really be due until 2023 once the current vehicle has run its lifecycle. MKZ is probably the bigger uncertainty, if a new one is on the way we should know by now.

Everybody tells me Conti CD6 was cancelled and I see absolutely no evidence it's in development on any of those platform charts. The biggest issue for Conti in China is that Ford can't Hybridize it or Plug it in for local production, so that may have accelerated its demise to 2020. The US isn't buying, Tariffs are squeezing, and China is clamping down...so it's hard to imagine Conti having a way out without a major investment like CD6. So yeah, the chances are NOT getting better. It does' help that Lincoln has to make way for Ford priorities since Lincoln is using Ford plants and resources.

Could be interesting. The only concern is that truck buyers tend to like the "everyman" image the "regular" brands portray even if they're the top trims.

I'd predict low sales, so it'd depend on how much it costs to develop.

RAM is probably the closest you'll get to a Lincoln Truck today. The F-150 is a nice all-around truck, but I don't think it scales as well because it's largely engineered for class-leading payloads and towing. I doubt Lincoln could get what it needs out of an F-150, especially with that suspension system which is a non-trivial thing to civilize unless Ford wants to.

And besides, I doubt Lincoln wants such an obvious rebadge in their ranks again.

What about a Ranger based luxury truck for Lincoln?. Mercedes-Benz enter the segment with the X-Class compact pick up.

Wescoent over at GMI back in the day (if anyone remembers him he hasn't posting in a really long time) used to think Lincoln should utilize the Super Duty chassis for a full on, no hold back luxury vehicle I can't remember if he wanted an SUV off of it or a truck but he used to always say that was Ford's best and Lincoln should use it.

Personally I don't want to see them try another pickup at all I think both the Blackwood and the Mark LT tarnished the brands image in the 2000s, although there were other things that did this like rebadging the trucks did not help at all.

I know trucks and SUVs are really popular now and maybe down the line it could swing in Lincoln's favor I just don't see it happening and don't want it to happen.

Bottom line is, they will follow the money. If MB brings the X-Class to the US...and Caddy brings back some form of a truck, Lincoln will follow. It would be nice for Lincoln to lead in some way.

I agree I don't believe a Lincoln pickup truck is in the works, but I personally wish a luxury mid-size truck was.

I'm a college student too, so I don't have time for the most perfect renderings. They're mainly meant for a general idea of design. I've done the best I could.

I tried to line up the doors a little bit more but I think this is as close as I can get.

I'm not trying to be a professional. It's just me being curious XD

With a wheelbase stretch (forward) and longer hood for RWD proportions (Navi is RWD), this could work. A tall Lincoln sedan with a longer wheelbase should/will not look so stubby. A great starting point for new design ideas but I'd rather it was based on CD6.
