Ford Kuga gets new engines, PowerShift - LeftlaneNews

By Andrew Ganz
Although it has barely been on sale for two years, Ford’s Kuga small SUV has been given revised powertrains and the automaker’s advanced PowerShift six-speed automatic transmission for the 2011 model year.
The Kuga, which is likely to be sold in North America in the future as a replacement for the aging Escape, will now offer a 161 and 138 horsepower variants of the automaker’s 2.0-liter turbodiesel Duratorq four-cylinder engine.
The lower output powertrain will be available with either front or all-wheel-drive, while the more powerful model will only be offered with its 161 horsepower going to all four wheels. With the less powerful engine and front wheel drive, the Kuga now emits a low 156 g/km of CO2. Both all wheel drive models emit 159 g/km.
Both engines are now mated to Ford’s PowerShift dual clutch automatic transmission – a version of which is offered in North America on the Fiesta. A six-speed manual remains standard with the diesel engines.
Ford will continue to offer the Kuga with a 2.5-liter, 198-horsepower four-cylinder gas engine.
